Team NT snowboarders win 2 ulus on day 1 at Arctic Winter Games

Huge congratulations to Team NT’s snowboarders for a spectacular first day of competition at the Arctic Winter Games in Fort Smith! Tegan Konge and Ben Toner took silver in the rail jam contest at junior level. The results mean the territory’s snowboarders have already exceeded their performance in 2016 and are close to equalling the two silvers and a bronze won by the NWT in snowboarding in Fairbanks four years ago. NWT Snowboard has postponed this weekend’s planned regional camp in Fort Smith owing to the exceptionally cold forecast for the community. Local organizers and NWT Snowboard jointly reached the decision late on Thursday as the forecast for Sunday, in particular, fell significantly according to Environment Canada. With the season almost ready to go, Yellowknife’s Ragged Riders club has confirmed its operating hours for this winter.
