Coaches will report to the Executive Director and the Head Coach.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is a volunteer coaching position, with an honorarium provided to each coach at the end of the season of $1000 (given they complete the duties as assigned).\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We are seeking at least one male and one female coach to fill these roles due to Games rules and regulations around accommodations, however other gender identities will be considered and gladly accepted.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Position 1: Head Coach<\/b><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Oversees all individual athletes training and coaching plans, including on and off snow<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Leads the planning for travel and athlete fundraising efforts\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Leads email communication between caregivers and the coaching team\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Works collaboratively with the Executive Director and other coaches to ensure athletes are supported and coaching staff has the same vision, approach and plan for the season\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Position 2: Assistant Coach, team management<\/b><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Point person for team communication during team travel, including coaches, caregivers, and athletes\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Main liaison between Games officials and coaching staff during the Games<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Someone organized with excellent communication skills and knowledge of phone apps that utilize group conversations\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Someone who can maintain confidentiality and who can prioritize the relaying of information to the coaching team and athletes as needed\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Position 3: Assistant Coach, gear specialist<\/b><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Point person for athletes gear maintenance during travel, training, and at the Games\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Seeking someone with snowboard gear and wax technology knowledge, equipment, and skill set (or willing to learn)\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>General Duties:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">MUST be available for the following dates:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Territorials &#8211; Fort Smith, March 1-2, 2025<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3-5 day team training camp &#8211; The Gathering @ Sunshine, May 2025<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tentative 3 day team training camp &#8211; December 2025<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Arctic Winter Games &#8211; Whitehorse, YK, March 2026<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Support and attend the Trials competition and help create criteria for team selection\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Work with the coaches to develop an on and off snow training plan for each athlete\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Attend and coach at a team training camp prior to the Games\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Attend and coach at AWG 2026\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Support athletes at home club for weekly training sessions leading up to the Games<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Be available for bi-weekly coaches meeting from December 2025-March 2026\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Qualifications Needed:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Intermediate to advanced snowboarding skills\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Instructing or coaching experience as asset\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CSCP Comp Intro Course an asset\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NWT Snowboard will support a qualified candidate in registering for this course should they have all other necessary qualifications<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Experience working with youth aged 11-16 years old\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CASI Level 1+ an asset\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Must have lived in the NWT for at least 6-months prior to the Games\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Must be 18+ years old as of December 2025<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Interested candidates should submit a resume and cover letter outlining their experience and interest no later than Thursday January 30, 2025.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">*PLEASE STATE YOUR TOP 2 INTERESTED POSITIONS IN YOUR APPLICATION.*<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Selection will be made by early-February and the start date for the role will commence in February 2025 through to March 2026.<\/span><\/i><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>D\u00e9sol\u00e9, cet article est seulement disponible en Anglais Canadien.ROLE DESCRIPTION: Snowboard Coach Location: NWT Term: February 2025 &#8211;
